RIP, Maurice Sendak. I was surprised at just how affected I was by this great artist’s passing. What a remarkable human being, a visionary creator, and role model as a gay man. Thank you, Mr. Sendak for my childhood journeys to the Night Kitchen, to the world of the Nutcracker, to where the WIld Things are.
This went from a quick sketch that I was going to post on the day of his passing, to a more finished illustration for some reason in the style of Mary Blair. Shrug! Here you go.
